Otoease to relieve whistling from hearing aids
question
about whistling from hearing aids
Dear Mrs. Newton,
Feedback is a way of life with little ones, and I applaud you for realizing
how important it is to get a good earmold fit and keep amplification on your
child. You might purchase some Otoease from your audiologist to coat the ear
canal part of the mold. The purpose of Otoease is to make earmold insertion
easy when there is a tight fit, but by coating the earmold, it can help with
some of the feedback problems.
Also, if the new earmolds are even slightly loose, ask the audiologist to immediately
have another set made and to "double dip" them. This means that the
manufacturer will dip them a few times to make them a bit thicker (and therefore
tighter).
How to get a good earmold impression from a squirming, protesting baby.....
that's a good question. Does Meadhbh sleep soundly? I've often made earmolds
during naptime in a quiet, darkened room with the little one snuggled close
to mom. And always I do one ear at a time rather than trying for both at once.
I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if the Otoease helps. And good
for you for trying to keep on those hearing aids!
Sincerely,
Kathleen Sutherland
