Hearing Testing

Comprehensive pediatric audiological tests are administered free at John Tracy Clinic at both the Los Angeles and Long Beach facilities. When parents suspect that their young child may have a problem hearing, the Clinic stands ready to help.
The Clinic tests children from birth to age 5, with special expertise in testing infants and toddlers. Parents are given an audiogram that details the results of the hearing loss. If a hearing loss is identified, parents immediately meet with the audiologist and a Clinic psychologist who will explain the implications of the diagnosis.

Services include hearing evaluation, family counseling regarding hearing loss, hearing testing and testing methods, and troubleshooting. (Sorry, we do not dispense hearing aids, but are happy to discuss amplification needs.) Audiologists work closely with the counseling and educational staff to assess hearing and to provide information and emotional support to families who seek the Clinic's help.

The Clinic audiologists confer regularly with pediatricians, hospital personnel and the coordination center of the California State Newborn Hearing Screening Program to ensure the best possible services to families.

Free community hearing screenings are provided for children in preschools and daycare centers throughout Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Orange counties, as well as the Coachella Valley area of Riverside County. The program is designed to identify children with mild and moderate losses, so that they can receive appropriate medical, audiological and educational services long before school begins.
