On-site Audiological Services
The Clinic tests children from birth to age 5, with special expertise in testing
infants and toddlers. Parents are given an audiogram that details the
results of the hearing loss. If a hearing loss is identified, parents immediately
meet with the audiologist and a Clinic psychologist who will explain the implications
of the diagnosis. Services include hearing evaluation, family counseling regarding hearing loss, hearing testing and testing methods, and troubleshooting. (Sorry, we do not dispense hearing aids, but are happy to discuss amplification needs.) Audiologists work closely with the counseling and educational staff to assess hearing and to provide information and emotional support to families who seek the Clinic's help. The Clinic audiologists confer regularly with pediatricians, hospital personnel
and the coordination staff of the California
State Newborn Hearing Screening Program to ensure the best possible services
to families. You may call to schedule an appointment Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. by calling 213-748-5481, x305 or x227. Contact person: Sandra Mintz, smintz@jtc.org |
