It's been a busy summer so far here at JTC! In the last few weeks, !2 families from 5 countries (Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Puerto Rico) were joined by 10 Spanish-speaking professionals from Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Spain for a Spanish-language summer session. The professionals participated in training, mentoring, observation and support for families of young children with hearing loss. Mary Beth Goring, MFT, and other JTC staff provided instruction and guidance in collaboration with Lilian Flores Beltran. The focus of the course was parent-centered services offering high expectations for young children using hearing aids or implants. The families participated in intensive parent education on spoken language strategies for their children ages 2 ½ to 5.
