World’s First Waterproof Cochlear Implant Sound Processor Receives FDA Approval

Advanced Bionics announced today that their new Neptune sound processor has received FDA approval for distribution in the United States and will be available for shipment in the very near future. Mercer volunteers provide fun and language-building for JTC families

For the second year in a row, volunteers from Mercer, a consulting and investment firm, provided Preschool and Parent-Infant families a fun learning opportunity with a mini carnival. Children and parents built language through carnival games and face painting. Thank you again, Mercer!

Evening Workshops for Parents of Children with Hearing Loss Begin for Fall 2011

John Tracy Clinic's Parent Evening Workshops recently began for the Fall 2011 term. The first workshop covered Audiology and for many parents, began their journey into becoming an expert and an advocate regarding their child's hearing loss. The second workshop of the evening was broadcast over the web to the Las Vegas parent's group, Hello LOVE. These workshops are the foundation of JTC's parent-centered, integrated education approach for families of children with hearing loss. After the workshops, parents also attended Support Group, another unique component of the JTC experience.

2011 International Summer Sessions at John Tracy Clinic

JTC has begun to receive some notes from parents returning home from International Summer Sessions; here is an excerpt:

I love being home but I wish you guys weren’t completely across the continent…..  I have a lot of people asking about our trip and wanting details but I have trouble putting it into words…. It was magical…. And usually when I say that, people interpret it by connecting it with Disneyland…but not exactly what I was referring to. Our children grew so much in that short amount of time… as did we. It’s amazing how 3 short weeks could have such an impact on our lives.
