Grads Bid Farewell
The Class of ‘06 is the first to complete the Clinic’s new Teacher Education Program in cooperation with the University of San Diego. The Master’s Degree graduates will enter a job market hungry for their skills. “We have never had a graduate not get hired immediately out of the program,” says Director of Teacher and Professional Education Mary McGinnis. They will not only be skilled in the Auditory-Oral method, but also experienced in working with parents who have babies and toddlers and any child with a cochlear implant.

Shawn Parr Tees Off for JTC
The Shawn Parr Invitational, Orange County Guild’s 28th annual golf tournament for John Tracy Clinic, was held again this year at the beautiful El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel. All proceeds supported the Clinic’s worldwide free services. The program for the day included continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf in super scramble format, lunch on the course, a silent auction, an awards banquet and a live auction led by KZLA radio celebrity and actor Shawn Parr. A special luncheon was also held for non-golfing spouses.

Staff Completes CERT Training
Beginning January 13, 2006, the staff received Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training over a period of seven consecutive Friday afternoons. Led by Firefighter Kevin Mason of the Sherman Oaks Division, the training consisted of hands-on instruction and video presentations on topics ranging from the proper use of fire extinguishers to preparing for serious injuries and destruction that might occur in a major earthquake. All those who completed the training received CERT certification, hard hats and vests. The program is a free service of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
