Alums Hold Scrapbooking Event

JTC Scrapbook Fundraising Event

The new Alumni Association’s very first Charity Scrapbook Crop was a resounding success. Co-hosted by Scrapbook Royalty of San Diego, the on-campus 12-hour event was attended by alumni parents, former students, staff and many new friends from all over California.

Seasoned scrapbookers Linda Woods, Karen Dinino, Elena Etcheverry and Suzi Finer held workshops in design, color, materials and technique throughout the day, including a mini album class in “Mod Podging” using mulberry paper and another on creating an art journal. Sweetpeas and Snapshots of West Los Angeles joined Scrapbook Royalty to set up little onsite stores, or “embellishment bars,” for extra supplies and reference materials. A Silent Auction was held, featuring handmade craft projects, scrapbook merchandise, CDs and even gift certificates from generous restaurants. Additional products for “croppers” were donated by Anna Griffin, My Mind's Eye, Making Memories and other well known manufacturers.

“We will definitely do this again in the future,” says Susan Weiner, alumna parent and JTC’s Alumni and Donor Relations Coordinator who spearheaded the event. “It’s a perfect excuse to have fun, make friends, give to our favorite cause and, at the same time, organize and display all those great photos, old recipes, clippings and other memorabilia we all collect.”
