For The Siblings (1st - 6th Grade)

Description of the Program

Sibling ProgramThe program for siblings ages six through twelve is conducted completely in English. The children (grades 1 - 6) have an opportunity to learn about language development, communication, and amplification devices. They also participate in a support group designed to give them time to share with other brothers and sisters their experiences and feelings. In addition to the learning class and support group, the siblings enjoy a variety of arts, crafts, sports, games and other day camp experiences. It can be an exciting and interesting opportunity to meet peers from around the world. All of the sessions take place at the John Tracy Clinic.

Enrolling Siblings (1st - 6th grade)

Parents, please list on the CONFIRMATION OF PARTICIPATION form, the full name of each child you plan to enroll in this program.

Children of John Tracy ClinicWe are very sorry that childcare is not provided for children under 1st grade or over 6th grade. John Tracy Clinic does not provide a program for children over twelve years. Please note that all siblings enrolled must be able to speak English. If you have any questions, you may contact our Sibling Program Coordinator, Mary Beth Goring, MFC Marriage & Family Counselor.

Children of John Tracy ClinicTips for Preparing Your Siblings (1st - 6th grade)

  1. Children should dress in appropriate, informal clothing. This includes shoes for jumping and running (preferably sport or "tennis" shoes; sandals are not appropriate), and clothes in which to enjoy messy activities.

  2. Children should bring a swimming suit and towel on hot days to enjoy water activities.

  3. There's lots of sunshine here in Southern California. Bring along some sunblock to prevent sunburn.

  4. Sometimes we have cool weather in California during the summer. Bring along a jacket or sweater, just in case. The children will definitely need them for many evenings.

  5. As a way for the children to get to know one another, your children may want to bring along some pictures of pets, best friends, and family members (and of course, anything else they would like to share).

  6. There will naturally be some leisure time during the three weeks. Your children might want to bring along some favorite games or books.
