Position Summary

Under the supervision and direction of a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides individual and group therapy services designed for children with identified speech-language delays and disorders.  The SLPA will follow and implement documented plans of care, keep thorough and accurate data, and report progress back to supervising SLP. The SLPA will participate in Friday Family schools each Friday, as needed. Furthermore, the SLPA will assist by providing speech and language screenings, supporting during formal assessments, assisting with formal documentation, preparing materials, and performing administrative tasks. SLPA will collaborate with other members of the JTC Staff in different departments (Educational Services/Counseling & Audiology Team: Teachers, LSL AVT/AVEd, Audiologists, MFT/Counselor) with SLP supervision. During the first 90 days, SLP will provide 30% direct supervision, weekly. From there, ongoing supervision will always include direct supervision to each client at least every 60 calendar days. Once supervising SLP determines the SLPA demonstrates appropriate competencies and skill levels, the amount of supervision will be adjusted accordingly. At minimum, there will be one hour of direct supervision weekly and as much indirect supervision as needed to facilitate the delivery of quality services.
